On September 7, a resolution was passed recognizing the help of Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s SUGPAT Program, ING, and UNICEF Philippines in establishing the first provincial wide youth development alliance in the Philippines and for its aid in creating the Provincial Youth Development Council (PYDC).
Resolution No. 679 series of 2020 entitled ” A Resolution Recognizing, Commending, and Expressing Gratitude to Ateneo De Zamboanga University- SUGPAT Adolescent Development and Participation Program, ING and UNICEF Philippines for the Provision of Technical Assistance to the Provincial Government in the Establishment of the Zamboanga Del Norte Youth Development Alliance (ZNYDA) and the Provincial Youth Development Council (PYDC)” was read by Hon. Miles Tejada, the SK Federation Provincial President of Zamboanga del Norte.
Tejada states that Republic Act 10742 mandates the creation of the Local Youth Development Council.
“From 2018 until now, we just recently established the Provincial Youth Development Council, and that’s because the SUGPAT team helped us register the youth organizations and youth-serving organizations. So, I’m really thankful, from the bottom of my heart,” Tejada said.
On March 30, 2020, the executive order establishing the Zamboanga del Norte Youth Development Alliance (ZNYDA) was signed by Zamboanga del Norte Governor Roberto Uy. ZNYDA aims to link the youth to opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement through improving the referral mechanisms between government and private entities.
