To spread the use of the Power for Youth Activity-based modules in Zamboanga City, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Zamboanga City passed a resolution promoting the use of the worksheets in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) community learning centers in Zamboanga City.
Resolution No. 1020 entitled “A Resolution Promoting the Use of Youth Life Skills Modules Developed By Ateneo De Zamboanga University – SUGPAT, Department Of Education-Zamboanga Del Norte and ING-UNICEF to the Department Of Education Of Zamboanga City to be Used by the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Learners in All ALS Community Learning Centers Of the City of Zamboanga” was passed on July 28, 2020.
Councilor Lilibeth Nuño, who proposed the resolution, said on her Facebook post, “we hope that through this resolution, more of our ALS learners will make use of the modules and forms developed by our very own SUGPAT in partnership with the Department of Education and Internationale Naderlanden Groep (ING) and UNICEF Philippines.”
Designed to cater to diverse groups including indigenous peoples and Muslim learners, these modules were developed after mapping competencies across the ALS 2.0 curriculum and MYDev life skills modules. The Power for Youth modules are contextualized to General, Muslim, and Indigenous Peoples Education. The worksheets are contextualized to better fit the learners according to their background.
These modules were developed by 130 ALS implementers from Zamboanga del Norte who were capacitated and empowered in designing and implementing local innovations.
