Over 140 Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons and Federation Presidents participates in the pilot course Strengthening the Children and Youth Participation in Governance Program.
In support of the SK Reform Act, the Galing Pook Foundation, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the National Youth Commission entered into a collaboration and came up with Strengthening the Children and Youth Participation in Governance Program, also called as #BagoTayo: Youth in Governance Program.
SUGPAT, Positive Youth Development Network, Inc. (PYDN), YPEER Pilipinas, and Siklab Pilipinas collaborate as they were tapped to implement the four-module project as official partner organizations and facilitators.
The training course is being conducted in four areas in the Philippines: Samar Province, Northern Samar, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Norte.
The training program is designed to strengthen adolescent youth leaders and members of youth development council (SK, KK, LYDO) capacity in local planning and budgeting.
Furthermore, the program also makes sure that mechanisms for adolescent youth participation in governance are mainstreamed in LGU processes like local planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring, and that the ability of LGUs to implement and develop innovative and adaptive programs for children and adolescent youth has improved.
The two pre-modules on Servant Leadership and Good Governance, and Human rights and Peer-ticipation just concluded last February 14 and 15.
The remaining four modules will be implemented in the second quarter of the year.
